NLSIU Conducts ‘Contracts Management for Leaders’ Programme for HAL

HAL Defence Public Sector Chair in Business Laws and the department of Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) at NLSIU conducted a training programme on ‘Contracts Management for Leaders’ for senior officers of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) from April 24-26, 2023. Around 30 Senior Executives from HAL participated in this programme organised at the HAL Management Academy, Bengaluru.

This training programme straddled the whole spectrum of contract management process – from planning and formation of a contract, to contracts enforcement and dispute resolution. The participants were introduced to basic principles of law of contracts and the impact of those principles on business management and strategies. With special focus on case studies from cross-border contracts and the defence sector, the programme traversed through different elements of the contract management process.

The training sessions were conducted by NLS faculty and lawyers from prominent law firms. Among the resource persons were Dr. Saurabh Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor, HAL Defence Public Sector Chair in Business Laws, NLSIU; Dr. Arul Scaria, Associate Professor, NLSIU; Ms. Sahana Ramesh, Assistant Professor, NLSIU; Mr. Prashant Sabesan, Partner, Link Legal, among others conducted sessions on different stages of contract management. Ms. Rachita Nadig, Counsel, Wadhwa Law Offices, conducted sessions on contract drafting and risk-management. Ms. Laksha Kalappa Baleyada, an advocate practising before the High Court of Karnataka and trial courts in Bengaluru, conducted sessions on intersection between property law and contracts.

About the Chair: The HAL Defence Public Sector Chair was set up by NLSIU along with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to engage in research and training and build a knowledge base in the area of law relating to defence public sector undertakings.
